What is the purpose of HRT?
As we age and due to our lifestyle, the levels of our hormones decrease and become suboptimal. When that happens, a hormone imbalance develops and symptoms begin to appear. Non-identical hormones have a similar structure but not identical. What is a pellet?
A pellet is a convenient hormone delivery system. It’s a grain size, cylindrical shaped hormone which is placed in the body surgically and will stay there for 3-4 months for females and 5-6 months for men. There is no need for weekly or monthly intramuscular injections.
Is pelleting a major surgery?
Not at all! It’s a minor and painless procedure done under local anesthesia. You will be able to go home a few minutes after the procedure is done.
What are post care instructions?
Will be discussed in detail In the visit. No exercise. Avoid using the gluts (buttocks muscle) and abs for 3 days for females and 7 days for men. Example of activities to avoid include: sit ups, push ups, squats, bike riding, and long hikes. You must ice applied the area 3-4 times a day for 10-15 min each for few days.
Will I lose my hair on the scalp or develop facial hair if I get treated?
Although this can be a side effect, it is rarely seen.
